How to tell steam where games are stored
Hi... Recently, the hard drive where I had the games failed. I have managed to move the games to another drive but when I reinstall Steam, I don't know how to tell it to take the games from that folder so I don't have to download them again. Copying them to the new steamsapp folder doesn't seem to work

It has being a while since i have had to re-add a folder but as far as i remember:

Do not point directly to the folder containing the games.

For example if you have the following:

E drive > GamesSteam > steamapps > common (games are inside common)

Simply point to the first folder GamesSteam when re-adding.

When you choose to add a new drive, select "Let me choose another location" and click Add. You will get a file explorer to browse to the exact drive and folder name that you want to use. And remember Nx Machina's advice to choose the folder that contains the \steamapps\ folder, not it or any below it.

I've tried that the first time but it tells that "There is a library here" and won't allow to continue

Either you're trying to add a library to a drive where one is already set, or you're not selecting the correct folder. I'm guessing it's because you already have set a library folder on that drive. You'll need to combine them into one. If you move game files around outside of Steam, make sure that Steam is completely shut down before doing so or things get broken.
