Is there a way to change the account name?

Is there a way to change my account name? I could not find anything online so I hope any1 of you could help me. I made this account 2 years ago and I just can't stand this name anymore... everytime in games I get asked how old I am bc everyone keeps saying I'm 11 or smthing so that's why I would like to change my name. You can change your display name all you want, whenever you want on Steam, just edit profile name, and save.

If you meant Login name you can not change it, support can't change it either, once you set login name when you sign up to steam it's set in stone on your account.

Well, just to be explicit, note that the account name is only something that you yourself can see; the display name is what both you and we would see e.g. here.

I do suppose you'd want to log out and back in. But yes, for real; as per what Dr. above said, just update your "Profile Name" and at least as far as I'm aware, no one would ever see the old login/account name.

Well for future ref to yourself, don't make names you don't want to use when signing up.

Also FYI Login names are hidden from public, no one can see your login name only you, and steam support can see login name. The display name is not the same as login name, they're two separate different things, the display name you can change, it also display to the public, while login name is a private name you don't share as that only used to login, or to recover the account if you somehow lost access fully to account like email lost, or you login to a scam site, and such. Hope this is clear.

Display name may not change on the fly while in game as may require you to relaunch the game in order to take effect, unless game has a delay system of it own where may take X amount of time.

Just to confirm, we now see you as "Dead" -- although your pevious Profile Name is still visible as "This user has also played as" from the dropdown next to your name on your profile page. If not mistaken you can clear that list if you go to your own profile page and look in that dropdown next to your profile name (it exists so as to enable people to more easily find you again, should you want that).
