External SSD between PC and Laptop
Hello, I am wondering if there is a way to download my games to an external SSD from my PC and then be able to bring it with me and my laptop and play my games when away from home since I travel a lot for work? Is this possible and if so what are the steps? Thank you in advance!

Maybe this would be easier than juggling files:

From what I read on your link, this helps transfer games to another PC however my end goal is to use an SSD in order to free up storage space on my PC and Laptop and just have the games run from the external SSD depending on which computer it is plugged into.
Create a library on the drive:
Steam > Settings > Storage > click drop-down > Add Drive > from drop-down select drive (or if you don't want the library at drive root, 'Let me choose another location' & choose a location) > Add

Follow same process on other system to add that library.

You could use the Storage menu to transfer already installed games (Select local drive > tick game(s) > Move > select external drive > Move)

For new installs, the external drive will be selectable as an install location. If you wish it to be the default install location, back in Storage menu select the external drive > [...] (settings icon) > Make Default
Just install Steam on the external drive and that way games go on that drive. No matter what system the drive gets connected to you will be able to load Steam and access all games on the external drive.

Did this when testing my Nephews system so I didn't need to install my Steam and games on his system as I'd only just built it and he had no games to test
