If the first, then you'll have to start wracking your brain to remember what that old account could be. And work with EA support to recover it.
Or you'll have to work with EA support to see about unlinking the existing account. However the big issue is EA, as far as I know, hasn't been keen on modifying accounts you don't control, which is what unlinking would do.
Either way it's a good lesson about managing your accounts in a proper password manager. Or it's a lesson about keeping your account secure.
Valve can't help you. The linking isn't done or managed on Valve's side. Valve can't manage EA accounts. Nor will they make EA do something on your behalf. Your only option is to work with EA support.
