Email instead of mobile authenticator
Why can I not just use my email to allow trades or purchase items on the market?
Everything was fine before but now I want to sell 50p worth of items to get something else,
however steam is making this an annoyance by making me have to wait at least 7 days to get the mobile authenticator or wait 15 days without it. why make us wait that long? I mean I could understand if it was 3 days but 15 is a bit much.

The three days didn't work because many victims didn't log into their account that frequently.

Regarding email versus phone, the reason why two-factor authentication works is because even if your computer is compromised, the attacker cannot access your account nor trade/sell your items without physical access to your phone.

If you use mobile authenticator for 7 days, future trade holds will be prevented. Existing trade holds will not be affected. Disabling mobile auth (or Steam Guard entirely) or changing phones will cause trade holds again. In all three cases, trade holds will continue until it has been enabled again for 7 days. Finally, even with mobile auth enabled for 7 days or more, trade holds will still occur if the other person is losing items in the trade and has not been using mobile auth for 7 days.
