I can't download anything on Steam

So, long story short, I tried downloading a new DLC for EU4 but it just won't download (I've talked about it on EU4 forum). However, it turns out that the problem applies to every single app (including Redistributable) that I tried to download on my Steam client.

Every time I download something, it'll always display a "connection time out" message. My Steam client wouldn't load any images if I open it without admin, and it still wouldn't load my profile picture and game thumbnails if I did. My internet connection is just fine (I tried Speedtest many times), so I don't really know what's the issue here.Uninstalling an app works just fine, but I haven't tried installing something.

This problem started three days ago and I still can't find a solution. I tried disabling my firewall, antivirus, deleting everything on Steam folder except steam.exe and steampps, but none of this does anything. Really need help for this one

Any past OS is dead and gone, if MS dont support, have a nice day, this is where we are today.
sure there is Linux and mac and same msg here have a update and support system is the clue.

and we have to figureout its Europa Universalis IV

i doubt they even will help you if you contacted game support or look at it. even if they actual should, next year it wont work.

Good as i said i could not see it in the picture or i missed it.

you can try them system check, and hope it find something.

is rest of the pc update i think on board Bios and chipset drivers and gpu drivers.
things we take for grated today then app from brand boasrd support and gpu card do this for us today. same goes with windows update do not have extra things not update there.

Yeah but the problem here is my Steam client, not EU4, and that the problem is that I can't update anything. I can play EU4 just fine it just that the game can't connect to the Steam server that's all (I tried playing with Steam offline and it works). Also the problem exists for my other game (Age of Empires II: DE) and Steam Redistributables.

could you have network congestion thats ISP area ( steam do have event sale atm )

"connection time out" migght be from own ISP along the line of connection into steam server , you need ISP for that to help you,

you can try switch steam DL zone, but you still need a clear path past own ISP in the other direction, ( try see it as matrix ) you try get past heavy loaded area, and that not always so simple.

try AUS or other logic for you nearest server , i cant say what sea fiber-cable you have in your region , let says they have such to africa, or south america, but you need to see it as test in all directions and not just North or South from your area.

and dont tell other here what you do, you dont want all other go same way as you think is best atm.

keep it to yourself like its a secret, you dont want million of user flip flop and make it even worse then all do it. ( you need to be a network engineer to know this )

i and other is not support here, and then OP or should i said all steam user forget who IS ISP and where to go for help, it can end badly sometimes , steam is not a ISP and never will be. i doubt that they ever will be, because the minute they do, any here can say fix bad connaction steam.
and that will never happend, that open to many door that steam is not in controll over.

Definitely not me lol, I just saw that someone gave it to you. Thanks for your help so far, tried changing the download server and there was a tiny bit of progress (peaked at 4 MB) but that's it for now.

Edit: It worked! I changed the download server and it fixed the issue. Again, thanks for your help!

this is own ISP ,they are the only one that can contact other own ISP partners with why is there a congestion, somewhere and you cant contact them , because you are not customer with them , contact own ISP support here,

but as i told you steam event sale, and that means i doubt ISP will do anything on the topic they dont see steam as big enough and move other standard traffic away from main line if they can do such.

steam sale can be seen as a black friday, and im sure you know what that means, ( problem is ISP might not know or care or see it as a problem. )

do understand global prime time in when ppl are up and sleep, such can matter in dl from a server that is idle and dont have much to do.

this has been said in many post , but we as user forget this every time, ( you need to be a support or technician to learn such.

even crunchyfrog, not seen him for a while , he also have seen such before then all try book at ticket system, we have all seen they little clues here and there, problem is we cant proof it, only ISP has the inside info, steam dont have access to ISP router so steam dont know jack and crap here )

gl hope it can help others, i bet your line or connection issue will go away 2-3 days after mass dl from all steam server then its return to normal, and its here ISP do have a point why will we expand in area that temporary overload.

( we dont make 50 lane ( highway ) motorway then its not needed ) this is so you get the ISP point of view i could say 10 lane or 100 even to make a point then normal is 4 to 6 max.


gl with it try find a way though the heavy load area and hope its not own ISP that is the bottleneck.
