Urgent help! I can't accept my friend's steam gift.
When I try to accept the gift from the link in the email, I get a message that says "An error occurred installing AppID: 0: Connection timed out

It doesn't appear in the gifts on Steam either.

If it doesn't appear, it's either redeemed or refunded.

If your friend gifted you a game it should be added in your library, you may get an error, or doesn't appear, simply relaunch your client to refreshing itself.

If this is a game you had before, and refunded, and you had it hidden before, check your hidden games to ensure it not hidden, also make sure there no filter apply as that may hide it as well. To find hidden games, click view, then click hidden games.

If your friend gifted you a DLC, you have to search for your game, and check the dlc section by clicking on manage DLC, may need to relaunch the client as well.

If your friend gifted you steam wallet funds, you may need to relaunch the client.

If your friend sent you an inventory item/gift, you need to visit your inventory, for game gift inventory this be under the steam tab. You can check trade history as well.



Now for accepting gift to fail there one other possibility that be that the person refunded the gift before you can accept it, or charged back.
