Is it possible to "upgrade" a pre ordered game from the basic game to an "Ultimate" without a refund?

Hello,
I tried to find the answer to this for a while online but had no luck. I want to get the STALKER 2 Ultimate Edition, but I already pre-ordered the base game a while back. I just tried to buy it hoping it would just charge me the difference like it does if you try to buy a bundle containing games you already have, but it said I couldn't even buy another copy for full price because I "already own" the game. I would like to avoid a refund if possible, so it doesn't negatively effect their sales metrics. They have been through a lot and I would hate to make it seem people are giving up on them even if I do just turn around and spend like 90% more on the game. I bought it like a year ago too, so I am not even sure I can get a refund, although it would be silly not to be able to since I can't even install it yet. Apparently Steam has no humon help besides farming it out to you all....that I can find at least. Anyway, I would appreciate any help, thanks!!

In the case where no "Upgrade" option is available, you have to refund the game and purchase the edition you want.

You can refund any pre-order before release.
