FIX FOR STEAM NAME NOT SAVING/REVERTING AFTER SAVED
Hey y'all, just wanted to share a fix for something that was annoying me with my steam account.. simply put, every time I would change my name, it would revert back to the old one within minutes. Frustrating to say the least, and I was unable to find a good post that helped until I saw a comment from JPMcMillen about this - Credit to him, but just wanted to pass this on incase anyone else is having the same issue.. long story short, I simply revoked my API key and it my profile name changed and saved correctly after I revoked the API access. I hope this helps! See below for the exact response/solution.

"It's not Steam. If there was an issue with your name you would have received a message about it.

Just to be safe, check to make sure there's not an API key assigned to your account:
https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
If there is a key, it means someone may have access to your account and has been changing it back."

An API key that was set without your knowledge means your account has been compromised.

This often happens when using third-party sites - like the one you are currently advertising with your username.

What happens if I revoke it and a new number just keeps popping up?

That means someone have an access to your account.

Take the following steps to secure your account:

1. Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/
2. Check that the email and phone number on the Steam account are still yours.
3. Deauthorize all other devices. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
4. Change passwords from a clean computer.
5. Generate new backup codes for your Mobile App. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
6. Revoke the API key (there should be no key). https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
