haven't gotten a single steam notification since i made my account
i made my steam account a few months ago and added a bunch of games to my wishlist. i got emails since then that they were on sale but i never actually checked my steam notifications manually on either the app or website

yesterday i checked for the first time and my notifications were totally empty. just said 'you have no new notifications at this time'. there should've been all the wishlisted games that went on sale but nothing

i was a limited user this entire time because i hadn't spent over $5 but this shouldn't affect notifications should it? should add that i've had 2FA since setting up my account so i doubt someone could log in and randomly delete every notification

You will not get discount notifications(on the notifciations page) for games on your wishlist(those are only by email).
However if you subscribe to a game's channel/forum then you get the article(s) detailing any events and discounts. Those would show on your notifications list.

What happens when you go there

?
(I used the link to my own notification archive and swapped my Steam ID with yours to make this link. No, I can't access your archive)

I did get a discount notification a couple hours ago for a wishlist item and I also got an email about it. But I never subscribed to the game’s channel or forum. The notif says something like ‘this item on your wishlist is on sale’. That’s why I’m wondering why I never got a notification for the 13 other times games were discounted the last few months.

Sorry I don’t want to click random links, but basically when I click the bell icon and view notifications (or view them in the app) it said ‘you have no new notifications at this time’ even though I checked my email and I’ve gotten like 13 discounted wishlist item emails since I set up Steam. So there should’ve been at least 13 notifications but it was all blank

Err you're wrong on that score. I've been getting multiple notifications from the current sale, both pop ups from the app on my phone and in the notification section of the Steam client.

Viva - the link is legitimate, but if you won't click on it then you need to explore your account settings in Steam to find the notification page. The most likely explanation is you've got the wishlist sales notifications turned off.

Thanks for your reply. I enabled wishlist notifications when I set up my account a few months ago. I checked again yesterday on both the app and website and they were still on. So not sure why all those wishlist notifs just never showed up. Never noticed any mobile push notifications the past few months either.

It’s driving me crazy but I’m chalking it up to some kind of bizarre glitch with my Steam account. I was getting email notifications for months but I guess somehow none of them registered on my actual notification page? Or they did but my notifications glitched out and deleted themselves at some point

I’ve also got some other weird issue where 11 items went on sale for Halloween a few days ago and I didn’t receive a single email or notification about it. Guess my account is just cursed or smthn

All I can suggest is clearing your Steam cache on the client, might fix that. Although that wouldn't impact the app on your phone.

I did it but the missing notifications didn’t come back. I contacted Steam support but from their answers I doubt they’ll be of much help. Thank you regardless

Any change for you? Starting with the winter sale, I also stopped receiving any kind of wishlist notifications, neither in-client, app or mail. Also created a ticket but the first answer was ... not helpful at all.

After making a few tickets, I started to get notifications on the app and in-client for a few weeks, but it would only show the latest wishlist sale at a time. Like if 4 games went on sale, I’d get a notification for all 4, but the notification list only showed the latest one.

Then around last month I stopped getting notifications again. For the winter sale I also didn’t receive a single notification either through the app or in-client or via email. Also my in-client notifications do this weird thing where they delete themselves after around a month so I can’t see any support tickets or anything from a few months ago.

Overall it’s a complete nightmare, I’m really sorry it’s happening to you as well but at least I know I’m not going crazy. I couldn’t find a single other mention of this on the forums and Steam support told me either a) I have notifications disabled which I don’t or b) it’s working as it should, which it’s absolutely not

Oh that doesn't sound promising :/ It also took me a few google queries to even find this topic so it seems to be either a very niche problem or something that hasn't been noticed much yet. I'll post here again if I find something or so, it really sucks not getting notified about releases / discounts.

I just realized the same tonight. I haven't had any site/client notifications of my wishlist items on sale or an email notification in quite sometime now. My last email notification for anything on sale was December 18th. No emails, no site notifications. I have multiple things showing as on sale right now as well that I wasn't aware of until today.

I hope it's figured out soon. I prefer the email alerts for sales because if there's something I might want to pick up at that time I can flag the email so I don't forget before the sale ends.

EDIT: It seems 1hr after I made this post the feature magically is working again for me after 3 weeks. I just got an email notification for sale items in my wishlist and there was a notification alert on the site when I came to edit this as well....

Same for me. Last email was from 22nd December. Email notification is activated though. I tried enabling the push notification via app and that works. But I don't want this. I want emails. I just contacted the support.

An update from me: I started getting in-client notifcations again starting last night. After a bit of back and forth with the support they found a few entries in the logs which showed that apparently my email-provider started rejecting wishlist related mails for some reason. Im now contacting my provider and try to get that resolved, worst case I'll have to get a new email address.

Would be odd if others suddenly had the same problem with their provider. I think that Steam just is directing the fault to someone else.
