How to hide controllers from Steam?

Hello!

I have HOSAS + Rudder setup which is working just fine outside of Steam, however, steam decided to identify the stick and the pedals (VKB Galdiator NXT EVO + VKB Galdiator NXT EVO + T-Rudder) as a generic controller.

For some reason, games I start from Steam (ie War Thunder) will only see the joysticks as generic controllers and I can not set them up to fly.

Historically, there was an option to hide certain controllers from Steam, but the option is now gone and their implementation of controllers is lacking. I have tried most workarounds except HIDHide, which I do not wish to do. The config is working fine outside of Steam (Windows, Star Citizen, etc)

Any suggestions? How I can truly hide or disable controllers for steam?

option is not gone, option is now not generally, you can turn it off, but only separately. right click on war of thunder in the library/properties/controller and turn off the steam input.
