Help with family sharing. Witcher 3 not available for family sharing?
I used to play this game before by borrowing it from my friend but all of a sudden it stopped being available for family share? here's some photos of what I mean https://imgur.com/a/q9EatEg

in the first photo you can see that it says purchase and I also have some play time put into it because I borrowed the game in the past.

in the second photo I'm showing that I could properly play other games which I am borrowing from the my friend.

in the third photo, well it's what happens if I try running the game using the game's shortcut icon in the desktop.

I already tried removing the family share and re enable it and it's still the same.

First & foremost, have your friend check whether this game is on the list of games excluded from sharing. This list exists, that is excluded games exist, and such things can even change. We'll proceed from there.

I think Valve might have broken family sharing, I've seen other people with games that support family share saying they're now showing a purchase button/no license error. In that case it was suggested Denuvo was the issue, but I'm fairly certain Witcher 3 doesn't use it.

Might be worth contacting support to see if they have anything to say.

Don't use the shortcut on the Desktop. That's just a Steam run game command.

Use the actual Witcher 3 exe.

Best advice, The Witcher 3 is completely DRM-free and does not even require the Steam client to be installed to start.

Hello I looked into witcher 3 if it's excluded from the list, I'm not sure if steamdb is update but it's the only reliable thing I could check with and compared it to a assassin's creed 2 which has the excluded from family game sharing on its app info,

The witcher 3 did not have this label so I'm highly positive that witcher 3 should still be shareable otherwise they'd have to update witcher 3's app info in steamdb

Hmm I tried sharing it on another account just incase my (this) account has an issue but it seems like even with the other account I shared it to, witcher 3 wouldn't appear. Will CS be able to do something about this? Because last time I submitted a ticket to them regarding paid dlc's suddenly disappearing in the shared library (they used to be there but suddenly disappeared for some reason), they couldn't do anything and just closed the ticket.

edit: an example of what I mean's monster hunter world: iceborne paid dlc expansion's shareable but suddenly disappeared from the shared library one day~

seems like this is the only way I could play the game right now, kinda unfortunate but until there's a fix I guess I'll have no other choice.

I'd rather your friend check with their sharing management page. That aside, there is a next step. Sometimes, sharing just acts up, seemingly randomly. Happenes to me once.

Have your friend un-share with you, restart Steam, have your friend share again.

I've done this before numerous times already, it didn't really do anything.
I could login to his account right now and checked if family view and other stuffs are enabled but they're disabled..

I appreciate your honesty with regards to licensing, but in this case it's the only workaround and acceptable for CD Projekt Red as long as you don't abuse it. It's the tenets they founded GOG with. They fight piracy by offering a good service.
