Can you get banned for trading inventory items to a friend for Steam credits?
So my friend wants to get a game but doesn't want to be gifted so is this bannable by any chance?

You can't transfer wallet funds.

If it's something like a CS:2 skin he could put it on the Steam Marketplace for enough to get the game he wants. Then all you would have to do is find the listing for the item and purchase it. Mind you, he will need to take into account the fees that get charged.

The bigger question is... why would he care if the game is gifted or if he purchases it himself? Sounds like someone that's planning to take your money, not do the trade, then block you.

Please understand there is no wallet transfering to another wallet.

There is funds gifting which you get a notification of gifting. But what you're doing is outside trading meaning the person could simply run with your items, and don't gift you afterwards. If you want to sell your items use the market place it there for a reason.

Sounds a lot like you're attempting money laundering. Which can get your account suspended.

He just does not want it in his purchase history

Doesn't matter what your intentions are. If you are accessory to a crime or violation of the Steam Subscriber Agreement, you will be held responsible.

You are not allowed to charge money for Steam items outside of the Steam marketplace. The only way to sell or buy Steam items is over the Steam marketplace. Not trading.

So its bannable if you give items to them for them to sell for steam credits?

(also I may have accidentally reported you instead of replying. Sorry)

At least it looks extremely suspicious and i've already seen account being restricted for such actions in the past.

Well then, if he wants to buy skins from you, you need to do it through the Steam Marketplace. The sale would move the money from his account to yours. Then you could buy and gift him the game. CS:2 skins are sold as individual items so all he'd have to do is locate the one you posted and purchase it. The listing will show who the seller is.

Here's the thing, if he doesn't want to do it that way, it's probably a scam. Only do the transactions through Steam and don't rely on 3rd party sites for any of it.
