Profile name gets cut off

My profile name used to be compiled out of 20 characters, but now it gets cut off on the 18th, giving me the "Error: An error occurred while setting account details".

When I try to edit it: it gets edited on the steam menu, but as soon as I refresh my tab, or go to a different tab, or restart Steam, it changes back (Tried on both the browser and on the steam app itself).

I tried different combinations, and for w/e reason different names get cut off differently: one name gets cut off on the 17th symbol, while imputing only numbers or an entire alphabet, or any other gibberish goes up to the 32nd symbol (which iirc the actual limit).

The name itself doesn't contain any profanity or inappropriate language, and I haven't seen anyone on the internet having the same problem (or at least I haven't found anyone with the same problem yet). Already sent a steam support request, waiting for response.

Update: I found out that only the Cyrillic names get cut off, which is even weirder. It wasn't a thing before.

An even weirder update: apparently I CAN bypass that 18 symbol cyrilic limit, but only if I change my name from my Friends & Chat tab. Which is just bizarre.

The issue seems to be that the profile name is limited to a certain number of regular ASCII characters. Cyrillic uses letters that count as more than one character. This is true for other certain other alphabets as well.

Thanks for your update, I was starting to despair and thought I had to give up. But this bypass works perfectly.
