I got about 740MBPS on testing my speed, only 41 MBPS downloading on steam

So I have a 1.2 GB connection, I am connected to my router via Ethernet cable. When I test my speed I get about 740 MBPPS but right now I am downloading a 55GB game (Generation Zero) and I am getting between 41 to 50 MBPS. I have cleared the download cache, limit bandwidth in Steam is off, Metered Connection in Windows Internet is off, I have shut down everything else that was hogging resources, I have noting else downloading, I even turned off my firewall and am still getting a really slow connection. I have also tried changing server locations and that did not help. Any suggestions?

So it's not clear because because you're ignoring the MB/Mb conventions between megabits and megabytes, and it's not clear how you have your client configured. IE your post is a little ambiguous.

So you're saying you get 740Mbps (megabits) in speed test. But you only get 41-50 what? Megabits (Mb) or Megabytes (MB) on Steam?

At any rate Steam downloads can be slower than expected due to lots of reasons. Disk speed could be one. Some kind of throttling could be another. I have a 930Mbps connection but usually only get about 65MBps although sometimes I'll hit my configured cap of 95MBps.

Do you have the "throttle while streaming" option enabled? I just noticed mine was, and that might explain the 65MBps I was hitting. Steam might just be using ~50% of your bandwidth with that enabled. Which would be pretty close to your 740Mbps, only getting 45MBps issue. 740/8=92.5/2=46.25 which would be in your 45-50 range.

I am downloading to an HDD so that might be the issue.

I do not have throttling. I guess it's all Mbps, not MBps. In any case I get 740 Mega bits on test my speed and only 44-50 Mega bits on steam.
