version.dll files shown as trojans?
I have been freaking out a bit lately.

In space engineers and RPG maker MV files my pc tells me that version.dll is a Trojan.

Spesifically Win32/Tnega!MSR. Thats like the Trojan or something.

I'm not sure what to do right now. Plz help.

It's probably a false positive, but if you've installed any mods it might not be. Tbh, the Space Engineers one concerns me more than the RPG Maker one, but if you're using something like McAfee it wouldn't surprise me because it's probably the worst virus checker.

You could try uploading the version.dll file to virustotal.com. If other big or well known virus checkers also find the file suspicious, then the situation is more worrying.

To ensure all the files in the game directories were delivered by Steam (and not replaced by Malware), you could try verifying file integrity for each game inside the Steam client.

i have just gotten the same exact version.dll file reported as a trojan, not from an exact game but just Steam/version.dll decided to remove it and scanning my whole pc rn just to be sure. is it a false positive?
