Yes, it's fairly easy to install a graphics card.
AMD is perfectly fine, however the R7 240 mentioned in OP is low end, entry level. Not worth it imo.
The whole PC in OP is awful for 620$. Generally a bad idea to pair an AMD APU with a discrete GPU since the whole idea behind the APUs is to serve as cheap CPU+iGPU combos in office machines or HTPCs, using a discrete GPU renders the iGPU useless. Those APUs are certainly not worth it for their CPU power alone.
At that price you could probably get a cheaper AMD FX or Intel i3 and certainly a GPU stronger than a R7 240. And higher quality parts too.
(PS: No, I'm not an AMD fanboy, I'm running and i5 + 770, but on a tight budget you want to get the best bang for your buck, which in terms of GPUs is currently AMD.)
