usually, the problem is not in the screw, but plastic quality
manufacturers began to make cheap computers from perishable materials, 3 years after the release of the pc or printer, etc. plastic becomes so fragile that crumbles, I encountered such a things bronze nuts fall out of the body or broken hinges made from cheap silumin
yeah, hp has a really isssue with these notebook laptops coz WHY THE F**K WOULD YOU USE PLASTIC FOR A ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ SCREEN FRAME! ok just needed a little anger relief cox of ddamn crappy hinges

Likely your glue popped out which means you're goign to have to either glue it back on (which is likely to break again anyway) or you have to find tiny screws to essentially sandwich the hinge to the cover. Thats assuming you have a drill bit small enough to drill through your cover.

But basically HP consumer grade laptops are garbage. These hinge problems are endemic in their product line
