[SOLVED] gamepad to keyboard not working on steam, and only steam.
Xpadder, Joy2Key, or anything. The moment Steam is the focus, the mapper stops working. If steam is not the focus, then through the joypad's mapped commands it will not become the focus. Click the steam window behind folder explorer with joypad - nothing, use mouse to click - steam comes to front and joypad stops being used to map to keyboard until I move to something non-steam.

This is a huge problem. I'd like to play games with my joypad, but as long as they run on Steam, I can't, because I can't map the keys to the keyboard or mouse.

I paid $10 for Xpadder, and it works just as well as Joy2Key (which I already had, and was free,) both will not work with Steam.
Waste of money.:cgpout:
I am not happy with Valve right now.:rshout:

Bump?

What kind of gamepad do you have?
Realms×Myths Jul 24, 2014 @ 7:59am
Why does that matter? Steam is blocking the application, the applications work with any gamepad I have, and work perfectly fine out of Steam, henceforth Steam is the problem, not the gamepad.

Still would help knowing what gamepad it is.

XBox 360 wired, I don't see how that helps though.

Simple,

Try one of those files see if it works.

uhh… What are these? They's no real description of what they do. They're zipped and there's no screenshots…

Is this good enough info?
What Is X360ce.exe?

What!??
Realms×Myths Jul 24, 2014 @ 8:26am
No, it's not. I unzipped it anyway, ran it… and nothing happened. It doesn't do anyhing. Without an interface to set gamepad input to Keyboard/Mouse input that works with Steam, it's useless. I have no clue what the exe is doing, or how to configure it, so it doesn't help.

Judging from your screenshot, this program is useless to me.

I'm trying to map my 360 controller to my keyboard and mouse,
not another controller to 360 controller.

In otherwords, I want it so if I, for example, push the right trigger on my XBox 360 controller, my computer clicks the left mouse button. Mapping to a gamepad will not work in PvZ, since it doesn't use a game pad. Neither does The Sims 3 (I have on Origin). I want to map my XBox controller to my mouse movement/input, and keyboard input, for games with no controller support whatsoever.

Then there are games like Fallout: NV and Skyrim, which have commands that only work on the keyboard, like ALWAYS walking/running. They have gamepad support, but most change speed by how far you push the control stick, and I like being able to choose between the two speeds, far easier to avoid running too fast if you have always walk on, which is impossible with gamepad input.

You need to use x360ce if you want proper xinput emulations.

You must put the X360CE files in the root folder for anything u want it to work on/with.
If a app/game has a BIN folder, then that is the folder your put them in, otherwise if no bin folder, then put them in the same folder as the app/game .exe file is in.

So to work with Steam app, put the x360ce files in \Steam\Bin
Exit out of Steam Client; configure x360ce and then relaunch Steam

You shouldn't be using, nor have the need to, use x360ce with games that actually support a controller.

God no. x360ce is not a mouse emulator like joy2key and xpadder. That isn't going to help in this situation at all.

Yes it can; u can remap the controller to anything u want; but the files have to reside in a certain place or it won't work.

Joy2Key and Xpadder work with games yes; but not with something like actually controlling Steam Client from the controller, it will not work and it has already been proven.
