Update Queued.
I've noticed for the past couple of days now, when an update is released a game will just not download the update at all. It'll say in my library "Update Queued" and won't begin at all... in fact it doesn't even show in the Downloads section so it hasn't initialised at all.

Getting past this requires rebooting Steam - simply enough. However it is annoying. :(

You can always start it manually. You can do this by launching the game and it will ask you if you want to download the update to the game.

Also are you playing any games while it tries to update a game?

Ah right. LOL, didn't think about that. I right clicked the game in the Library for an update option, but I didn't actually think about running it first to prompt it.

No, I'm not playing games when it does it. Seems rather strange behaviour that has developed as of late.

Thanks for the heads up.

Updates that are queued but won't start; u can go to Library > Downloads and click 'Pause All'. When that button turns into 'Resume All'; and u have a list of updates especially; u can do just the one u want by clicking the UP arrow icon on the game update; to push it to the top and manually start/resume that download.

I tried that but because there wasn't anything in the downloads window there was no button to press. Sad times :'(

I've been seeing this problem for about a month now, and I have the same issue with no "Pause"/"Unpause" button in Library>Downloads.

I also see the issue that some games will launch when you press "Play", without updating. DOTA 2 for example will then immediately stop working and present a dialog box stating that DOTA 2 client is out of date that that you must update it before playing.

I have no fix to force the games to update.

Dota2, Techies update happens like this but I reinstalled the game, it works. But now, a new update released then it happens again. I'm tired to reinstall the game again. Could someone help this kind of issue?

This seems to happen on all of my games, although SOME games do appear in the downloads section whilst some don't. Still a problem.

Many updates recently from Valve have been mega sloppy. CSGO was broken for me about 2-3 weeks ago after an update released ruined match making for many people. Many server owners complain that they need to do server restarts just to allow people to enter the game. Valve servers on CSGO are affected as well. Then of course there is this download issue which began several months back. Both issues, still no fixes. It's as if they don't test anything anymore or chill back and take forever to react on feedback.

Apart from crappy servers... I mean, I still sometimes get "Service Unavailable - Error 503" off peak sometimes for the store page and community / profiles and their game servers are shockingly bad. Why the hell can't Valve actually INVEST in the infrastructure? It's always take, take, take. A paint job to the front page is not giving, it's something that is massively overdue and designed to get people to spend. I've not actually seen any real updates in the last 11 years to the functionality of the client itself. I know there have been some nice features added, but this ♥♥♥♥ is ageing and from the outside, it just looks as if Valve are trying to patch any holes that crop up on a old design.

Last few years has left me disappointed and angry at Valve for a number of reasons. Gabe probably isn't even directly involved in running the thing anymore, unless he is and he is the prime capitalist in a chubby good guy disguise.

I keep getting this issue since the big steam update that changed the store (I hate the new store as well, but that's another topic).
Any game update/patch that is released, I either see it is in the queue but not downloading, and I have to manually move it up the list, or it just says "update not queued" and I have to manually start it.
I thought the point of steam was to have it automatically update all your games and software? It used to do that, but not anymore.
It's been like this for weeks now, with no sign of it getting fixed.
Anyone have any info on what is causing it, or if there is a way to stop it, so I don't have to keep manually updating my games? Because if I wanted to do that, I would prefer not to use steam at all, since valve have turned into such a greedy, terrible company lately.

I still get it. Although now it just says that a game requires an update and I must go into Downloads and click for it to start, even though I've not specified such things in settings.

Some games download updates normally... others do not.

Still awaiting updates to sort the issue (been a while now) and I'm still waiting for the option for the ability to turn of Curators.
