Any notifications on forum replies?
Hello, i have just opened a new account for the first time and i am wondering just how do you know when someone has replied to you? I see no built-in messenger of sorts, do i have to simply find the thread and keep it open or is there an inbox for replies? I would like to chat to people but it is difficult to keep track of every thread where i post after a while or to know who i even talked to or how to reply. Help would be appreciated. Thank you.

you subscribe to the thread. if someone posts, you get a notice.

the subscribe button is on the right side of the screen (in the steam client) right above the START A NEW DISCUSSION button

there is also a checkbox below the Reply section

their currently is no "if they reply to me" feature. its the thread only regardless of who they were directing their comment to.

I have seen it. Thank you very much. So, as i subscribe to the thread, i will get notified with answers, but i will not get any answers directed at me personally, if i understand it correctly?

Tick the Subscribe to discussion above the Post comment button. Then post that comment and the checkbox will remain ticked and you'll get subscribed to every thread you comment on after that.

Or you can just click the Subscribe to thread button everytime

Replies are to the thread and not you specifically

Then how do people keep track of who replied to them or not? Do they just scroll and wait? Is there a refresh option, or something? I would like to join some discussions but i find the system quite obtuse. Still, thanks.

Sometimes users don't even quote the person they are talking to. Like I've just done here.

Essentially it's a free for all. Even if you comment to person A, Persons A, B,C,D may reply to you, with or without quoting you.

Oh, i see... So i should just write my own thoughts and move on i guess. Confusing, but understandable. Thank you.

A little but you get used to it. Can be nice when someone joins in when they explain stuff in a different way or just give a different point of view. Plus the person you're replying to might not be able to reply for hours.

I have been scrolling through some interesting threads but there really is no dedicated hub or a community it appears. Or it just goes off-topic. Are Steam Groups any good? They seem to be dedicated hubs.
