Extremely slow download speed.
I have no idea what else I can do. I've tried everything I found online but nothing worked and the download speed is constantly at about 5 MB/s. How do I fix this?

if your internet is faster than that, try switching to a different download region. closer may be better for latency and ping time but when i comes to download speed, server bandwidth, caps, and utilization are what matter.

puting steam on an ssd helps.

temp pause anti-virus / firewall to see if it's causing it. Remember to turn it back on.

Check task manager, performance, network, then processes if something else is using your bandwidth in the background

If disk run at 100%, then network is working as intended, you cant keep up.

If you have AV app or other task like defrag or game same time, then you haver no idea what you are doing, all this is task manager ( windows resources )

steam use CPU to unpack, so weak cpu aient a help. ( and steam use super compressed files ),

Near FULL disk just make it worse, ( proof is then disk was empty noone complain over it )
its called seektime happend to all disk just lesser notice on SSD, but its still there. drop in performance over time the more disk get full.

gl with it.

feel free to test with spare pc or friends laptop, plenty of network guide in how to do. i want you to test is its my pc or into steam , thats the point, you just excluded ISP and into STEAM if that is your pc that doing it.

Steam has just steadily become more and more ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ of a service. Absolutely ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ ridiculous.

Simps need to shut the ♥♥♥♥ up.

It's not hard drive write speed. It's not network speed. It's not the CPU. It's not the ISP.

IT. IS. STEAM.

Steam takes a ridiculous cut to host this content yet they can't manage download speeds that would be acceptable 15 years ago.
