What if I bought deluxe edition if already own standard game?

Title. Considering getting the deluxe edition of Elden Ring but I'm confused on what happens to original/standard copy; does the CD key get replaced, or does it just add the DLC to the original CD key?

The only way for me to purchase it though is to remove it (standard edition) via the steam support page, then it'll let me purchase the deluxe edition afterwards but what would happen to the original CD key if bought though? Just curious, thanks! C:

Basically, all that happens is that the key for the deluxe edition will replace the key for the standard edition on your account.

You don't lose your original key though, say you decided to refund the deluxe edition, the original standard key will be restored.

The original product key will stay on your account. It will not be turned into a state where it can be activated again.

I have bought a key for gotham knights and recently played it and liked it, i have decided to buy the code for the deluxe since was cheaper then buying the dlc and it doesnt work like this, it wont let me activate. Anyone knows what i can do?

You'll have to remove the base game from your account and then activate the deluxe.
