Steam Downloading Region

If I live in Ohio what would be the best download region for me?

The one that gives you the fastest speed. Seriously though, just go through them until you find a good one for you. If you're not stuck in the absolute boonies, this most likely isn't worth it.

Sidenote: In most cases though I find that the download region has a minimal effect on download speed. How fast your PC can download, decompress, decrypt, and install a game is often the actual limiting factor.

There is no best but there are timezones.

For example you could download from a server in Germany during the day in Ohio when it is night in the EU.

Or if you solely want to download from the US try each server as closest does not mean faster.

Honestly,sometimes its best to use a download server on the other side of the world.
Sounds strange but that means it will be nighttime over there and that means a lot less users downloading stuff.
Local servers from your own country often are slower then foreign ones that are far away for that reason.

I am from the UK and i download from the Seattle server during the day in the UK, as we are 8 hours ahead.

Overnight i download from either the UK server in London or the server in Hamburg, Germany.

I typically get better performance overall from Houston, or at least once I landed on Houston and saw it was decent I just left it there.

This is something I made last night

I used to have those low speeds when I had an outdated router. It turned out that I turned on IPv6 on the router, which disabled hardware IPv4 NAT routing, forcing the router's CPU to get pegged performing IPv4 NAT routing, which is CPU-intensive in software. However, I at the time did not know that routers could do hardware routing and thought that it was all done in software. Replacing the router solved the problem even though I configured IPv6 to be on at the new router, suggesting that it is able to do hardware IPv4 routing even with IPv6 turned on. I later learned that the old router required IPv6 to be disabled in order to do hardware IPv4, while the new router could do both IPv4 and IPv6 in hardware. (IPv6 routing is easy for even a low power CPU to handle, unlike IPv4 routing.)
