Jagged Alliance 2: Wildfire with JA2 Classic DLC wont launch

Hey, steam community,

I've played this game for many years, and only more than a hundred times on Steam. Lately, since a week I'm not able to launch the game anymore. This could be due to an access violation error, that could be purely steam related. The error log is shown below:

Does anyone know from Steam how to solve this particular issue? Its strange that I was able to play the game less than two weeks ago, but now all in a sudden this error does not allow me to play a nice classic anymore. Anyone can help?

Address errors could be the result of...
1.DEP or some other memory based security policy
2. Unstable XMP/EXPO profile
3. Damaged or loose RAM module/s
4. Windows updates (especially on W11)

I had similar issue with Deathloop, changing my XMP profile fixed it.
Check those first...

All right, with my computer (HP Victus 15L gaming desktop) I did not seem to be able to change the xmp profile in the BIOS. However, when I reset/recovered my system to the situation of 15 day ago(5th of May) I was able to launch the game again. Good for me.....

When I checked the systems log I saw a DirectX update at the 14th of May, few days after that things went wrong. I could have been something to the DirectX. So for now I'll keep it this way.

This could just be that JA2 doesn't support the API and may have had a patch back in 2017. Don't re-roll driver updates for old games, try running it in compatibility mode with DX12!
