You can report it to them if you wish. They might even act like they write down what you tell them, only to discard it when you leave the precinct.

If they are like our Australian police, they will definitely record it -- for the statistics of "people scammed this year" and "money stolen by online scams this year". Our ABC regularly reports what the current statistics are every few months. Fairly recently they even had an interview with a scammer mocking us for how easy Aussies get conned.
