All my friends have been removed. What can I do?
I logged in to steam today and realized every single friend of mine is gone. I thought it was a glitch so I restarted steam, cleared cookies etc and checked again and still I had 0 friends in my friends list.

I checked with a friend of mine to see if his account has me as a friend and he said NO for that too,

I'm guessing a hacker got to me? and removed all my friends? Yet I got steam guard and the authenticator app idk how thats possible. My inventory is fine tho.

Any way to get back my friends?

Let's first get the account infection handled.

Deauthorize all devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Change your password on a secure device.
Generate new back up codes. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage
Revoke the api key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey
Check that the email and phone number on the steam account is still yours.

Follow these steps, before the hijacking does some more nasty stuff. You know, that there was a bot in your account, if there was an API key set up in the fourth step.

As usual, I'd like to add my favourite piece of advice:
In the future, do not do Steam logins on other websites. Instead do a browser login on the website of Steam (store.steampowered - bookmark it to avoid copycats). Every website, that needs a Steam login, will recognise this and allow you to confirm your account.
If it still asks for your name and password, it is not a real Steam login.

Now about your previous friends:
Your profile is public, which means, that data storage sites were able to crawl it, especially https://steamdb.info/
A good chance to try out the trick I mentioned above as well.

(And somehow, while typing this and trying to figure out, where the profile view was, I just can't find it... I hope, it wasn't removed.)

Okay, just tried to remember a few websites, where you can find old profile infos.

https://steamid.uk/

Pick this one. You got an information about past friends of yours in there.

It requires a login to view them.

You can also try...

Exit Steam.

Navigate to... Steam\userdata\<Steam3ID>\config\

Open localconfig.vdf up with WordPad and CTRL+F to your friends. Find your friends.

Will this work if I have reset my computer multiple times?

If you still have that particular file, yes.
If that file was deleted or overwritten, no.

This thread was quite old before the recent post, so we're locking it to prevent confusion.
