Getting all the dragonballcards for one Rank at a time in a Game (badge rank thingie) after they are 'combined' - that also gives you some Emoticons and other Inventory items, and sometimes Coupons for games (price reduction).
Games drop about half the Cards, then you can Trade friends/etc for the rest; you can also buy the cards on the Community Market for small amounts (two-to-ten cents a card maybe), if you didn't mind spending a small amount sometimes.
I did that and got a bunch of Ranks/Badges over time and that unlocked most of the Customization, for me anyway. GL with it, HF

You lied by telling him you got Steam points by playing games. Or perhaps you were confused and thought he was asking about experience points rather than Steam points.
