Need Help ASAP (Upgraded to a 144hz monitor and My fps dropped)

So today I went and bought a brand new 144 hz monitor (lenovo legion y25f-10 - 25").
My old one is a 17” widescreen LED Benq (highest resolution is 1366 x 786).
I installed everything according to the instructions and I’m using a DP cable.

The problem is that my frame rate dropped in games like CS:GO from 200-300 to 80-200 (at some points). I’m also running on the lowest settings to get as much fps as possible. Can anyone explain to me why this is happening and is it possible to fix it or is it just a normal thing?

My specs:
Graphics card - Nvidia GeForce GTX 1050 Ti
Processor - AMD Ryzen 3 1200 Quad-Core 3.10 GHz
Ram - 8.00 GB
Motherboard - MSI A320M GRENADE

Your new monitor probably supports a higher resolution, which requires more horsepower.
There isn't much you can do about that. It doesn't have anything to do with it's refresh rate.

1440p is insanely more demanding than running a game at 700p. You will struggle to run a lot of modern games at that resolution with just a 1050ti.

So what are you suggesting in a situation like this? I mean my fps peaks sometimes at like 250 on the new one but it´s rarely... Is there any way I could somehow boost it just by settings or is it purely the specs that needs to be changed?

Ignore my last response as I read something wrong. As AustrAlien2010 said above, your monitor supports a higher resolution - I've just checked and it's a 1080p one. So it's more demanding so you may lose some frames but ensure V-sync is turned off.

I see thank you all for the response, one last question though. Does it matter what Hz I use?
Because in my settings I can choose between 100,120,144hz.

Because in my settings I can choose between 100,120,144hz.

Some monitors have further blur reduction capping down to 120hz. I would roll 144hz and turn v-sync off for the smoothest possible experience. Also make sure your monitor is running at 144hz by right clicking on your desktop, going to Nvidia display options and then check the refresh rate in the resolution options if you haven’t done so already. Have a fiddle around with the in-game graphics options and see if you can bump up a few settings also without losing too many frames.

I think the reason is your computer might be able to tolerate the less hertz screen better than the new one. your computer might be too slow for it. i have a 144hz monitor but was lucky enough that my PC could tolerate it

Or a way to FIX it, maybe overclock something in your PC (if your able to) or fix up setting in drivers like GeForce experience, and especially NVIDIA control panel.
