Big Picture mode. How do I disable this? I don't want/need it

I have to close steam to play games so steam doesn't open this stupid thing. I have absolutely no need for steam to take charge of my game controllers. This is breaking my system.

To exit this mode, click or press your controller's "A" button while focused on the "Exit" button in the upper right hand corner of the screen. Another quick way to go into and out of Big Picture's fullscreen mode is to press ALT + ENTER on your keyboard.

You simply don't open it. Steam doesn't just open BP willy-nilly.

If the issue is it opening when you use the Guide button you can try with the Chord config's always-on action set to 'Empty' ('Cleared from Parent' in new BPM/Steam beta)

On a PC with no controllers, Big Picture will suddenly start playing sound tracks in the background. I really don't need to hunt down where a game sound track is coming from during a Zoom call. How in the eff do I get rid of this crap?

yes it does. in the middle of a match too. trying to use the xbox game bar. WTFFFFFF?

This will probably not help but try going into Big picture mode ->menu -> settings -> controller and then make sure "Guide button focuses Steam" is disabled.
