How to hide what's new bar in library?

I was wondering if there was any way to disable or hide the what's new bar in the steam library as I would prefer to simply use my steam library as an interface for picking what game I want to play instead of seeing random updates for games that I used to play a decade ago. It seems like it should just be a simple toggle somewhere in the settings but I can't seem to find it. Is this a possibility or does steam just utterly lack UI customization?

I simply hop into my library through the "collections" option, of which I got none, letting me start with a blank right side of the window and full focus on my games list.
