Well, duh. The new app uses the camera to scan QR codes on your PC display. It does not display them itself.
and where did i find the qr code on my display and how can i make a photo from it? because it does,nt work.

When you log into your account. As you are already logged in, there is no QR code to scan.

(I still find the idea scary, that someone, who has access to someone else's mobile phone, can log into Steam without entering a login... Another reason for me to avoid this kind of technology)

You can lock down the app to either require a PIN or other authentication to access such features.
I use fingerprint authentication. So even if someone accesses my unlocked phone, they couldn't use it to enter my Steam account.

Are you new to using a smart phone, or new to scanning things? Yes it's a legit question.

QR code on Steam is only shown WHEN you're NOT LOG IN.

How QR code works, depending on the app, or what QR display, you require to use a camera to scan QR code, for Steam case, you need to use Steam Gaurd Mobile app, it has a QR scanner that uses your camera to "scan" the QR code. This will send a signal to the server with your steam ID that on your Steam guard mobile app, requesting for login, the server PING back to your Steam guard mobile app, giving you promot if you want to approve said login, or not, and shows a geo location map where the device being sign in from. *Please note geo location not always be accurate*

Actually you're already login on Steam on the app, so they already got access to do said things if they got your phone, along with anything else on your pohne, so if you have a habit of leaving your phone in places in public, or at work, then it recommended you put a lock on your phone, and you can take things by extra mile if you want, such as secure erase on those that try to brute force your phone in worse case if phone ever stolen from you.
