Question regarding gifting the Steam Deck to someone else

Does anyone happen to know the process to gift the steam deck to a friend?

I want to buy the deck on my account, but the gift option is grayed out.
There's a small note that says the deck can be gifted during checkout, but I've reached the purchase screen and there doesn't seem to be any options that explicitly say to gift. And I don't want to end up buying it and having it get sent to my address since the friend lives out of state.

Does this mean I can choose to send it to someone after I click purchase, or should I just directly enter their address in the shipping address?

You would basically just send it to the friend as a delivery address. You gift it by basically putting the shipping address in. As long as you're both in the same country you can gift it to them that way.

The first screen you get, after pressing "buy for myself" (after you log in) is the shipping address. Put in your friends name and address here. Then you pay with your own payment method.

They'd just charge them sales tax based on the delivery address rather than the billing address.
