ffmpeg.dll not found error
i logged on to my computer and started up steam and it said "ffmpeg.dll not found, try reinstalling the program", i never even knew this file existed and steam was working fine before i turned my computer off and then came back to it. I've done a windows integrity scan and it said it found some corrupt files and repaired them. i then think to myself "thank god, i hope its fixed now", it was infact not fixed. ran a second scan and it found nothing wrong, anyone got any idea how to fix this?

Did you try reinstalling Steam? Also if you use an antivirus that isn't Windows Defender it may be one that has lots of false positives and removed the ffmpeg.dll from your Steam folder.

i did not try reinstalling steam for the simple reason of i don't remember my password, the only other antivirus i use is kaspersky
You kind of need to know your password, every now and then you may get logged out and need to log back in. Get your password or reset it from the Steam site and reinstall Steam and see if the issue is fixed.

If it works and then stops working, then likely your external antivirus (Kaspersky) is flagging it as a virus and quarantining it.

it is not, i already checked my antivirus and its not flagging it, i have tried copying the file from another source and inserting it into steams files, not worked, ive tried running system commands to see the integrity of the file, to scan the file, everything.
Clear the cache of Steam by deleting the contents of the following folder: %ProgramFiles(x86)%\Steam\appcache

If you have discord, you can try coping the ffmpeg.dll from Discord's folder into Steam.

Your current user profile may be corrupt, try making a new user profile (Windows) and see if you run into the same issue when you run Steam there.
