Cannot select /opt/steam as download directory
Ubuntu 22.10, Steam v1.0.0.75.
I want to add `/opt/steam` as download directory. I created it and gave the right permissions:

sudo mkdir /opt/steam sudo chown $USER:$USER /opt/steam

But when I try to add it, the popup dialog in steam does not allow me to browse under the /opt directory, even if it has the execute flag. I also tried to give it all the permissions:

sudo chmod 777 /opt

Nothing has changed. I cannot browse any directory under /opt and I cannot manually enter the path.

How to add this directory?

uhhhhhhhhh why on earth would you put stuff under /opt/
Because it's the right place "for the installation of add-on application software packages" as FHS states. My /home partition is not so huge, so I need to install the games on the / partition.

What other directory would you recommend then?
Anyway, I don't see any reason why it can browse under /etc but not under /opt...

Another "bug". I created another directory under /mnt/steam, as above. Steam allows me to select it (I don't understand the criteria, anyway). But even if it points to the right path it shows me the storage location as /etc, that is completely wrong.
