Price Matching / Price Adjustment on Steam?
I was wondering if it's possible to get a price match / price adjustment on Steam?

I was looking to purchase 'Tyranny - Gold Edition' here on Steam, but it's almost double the price here than on GOG and EGS.

Sale price on Steam is US$23.15 while on GOG and EGS it's $12.49.

Just the non-sale price is much higher on Steam also where it's $75.95 compared to $49.99.

I'd like to buy the game here but closer to the advertised price at other stores. Is it possible to get a price match or price adjustment? I want to buy it here, but not feeling like I'm being taken advantage of by the publisher for buying on Steam.

The base non-sale price should not be significantly higher here than on other stores either.

Publishers and developers set the prices, so you'd need to ask them directly. However, if the prices are cheaper elsewhere, why not just buy there?

Nope.

Get it on GoG.

That's not what I asked.

Anyways, I think it would be beneficial to all Steam customers to either have Price Matching on Steam, or have some sort of policy that ensures Pricing Parity on Steam.

The situation I detailed above should not be a thing. I get that sales prices can be different sometimes, but the base retail price should not be marked up so much higher on Steam than on other stores.

That's a publisher / developer that is taking advantage of the Steam platform and its user base. That should NOT be a thing, and Valve should look into it.

It's also a tailored bundle on Steam which means people who own parts of the bundle get a discount for owning those parts to complete their set.

https://store.steampowered.com/bundle/5879/Tyranny___Gold_Edition/

Those other sites don't have this type of bundle.

That has nothing to do with the base pricing being so much higher than other stores. Steam customers are getting screwed here pure and simple, and it's a shame that Valve doesn't offer a way to fix that or have a policy to prevent developers / publishers from inflating prices unfairly on Steam.

If the Tyranny - Gold Edition is available for $49.99 on GOG and EGS then I expect it to be the same base price here on Steam, and not the ridiculous $75.95 it is now.

Anyways, obviously I'm not going to buy it directly on Steam and will look at other ways to acquire the game.

Edit: Just to clarify what I mean by that I mean the loads of official keysellers listed on "isthereanydeal". Those will all deal with Steam keys, and the lowest prices are comparable or better than GOG / EGS here. I'll wait on sales with them, but unfortunately, Valve doesn't see any money on that key sale, so I'd rather buy it directly here, but the pricing isn't fair.

I won't buy on GOG as you suggested, because it's a dying store and I've have problems with it in the past. I'd rather buy on EGS than GOG, but I have no desire to buy something there either.

It's called "Most Favored Nation" and Valve got a lot of heat when trying to enforce it.

You can grab a steam key off gray market for $5 if that makes it better for you.
https://gg.deals/pack/tyranny-gold-edition/

Please note gray market don't work directly with devs, and allow individual resellers, so if seller give you fake key, or used, contact the site support, and they have seller give you new key, or they give you new one, or a refund, think of eBay if that help make it easier to understand.

If you ask why it so much cheaper, that because bundle sites, when this appear in bundle it was dirt cheap, so people bought in bulk and that why it dirt cheap still on Gary market.

It matters 100%.

On Steam, it is a tailored bundle regardless of it being on sale or not.

Other sites don't have tailored bundles.

Well, I agree with Valve on that then. It's not fair for a developer or publisher to have a lower base price of the exact same software on other stores and not on Steam. If you're going to do that and treat one group of customers unfairly, then you shouldn't be on Steam at all.

I would think that a developer or publisher would want to be fair to Steam customers, because a sale on Steam could be viewed as "more valuable" because of the algorithm and gaining more visibility, or "trending" on the most popular PC platform would lead to even more sales.

Like I said, I get that sometimes sales prices can be different, but the base price of a game should not be higher on one store than it is on others. If Valve wants to prevent them, then good on them and I'd support them on that and I hope they win the court battle.

Thanks for trying to offer some help and assistance here. I really appreciate that, but I think I will just wait until I see the Gold Edition on sale at one of the official key retailers that deal in Steam keys. I'd just feel more comfortable doing it that way.

I just looked around and you can find these bundles all over Steam that are priced equally. Pathfinder: Kingmaker Imperial Edition are both the same base price on Steam and GOG. Same deal with Pathfinder: Wrath of the Righteous, and the same deal with Wasteland 3 Colorado Collection.

I'm sure I could find countless other examples also. So, no, it doesn't 100% matter. Steam users are getting screwed here when it comes to Tyranny - Gold Edition.

I won't respond to you again.

There chance person that setting the price make the mistake, and enter wrong pricing, as well but also it could be them wanting to charge more for little reason behind it, so can try shooting them a message about their price being unfair compare to other stores.

I can't remember there was another game that like this, but what publisher did is raise the prices on other stores, instead of lowering it, pretty low ball I know.

More often then not the reason they are cheaper is because either the place selling it is reselling games from regions where the price is much cheaper and this violates steams tos or they using stolen credit cards or steam accounts.

If it's not listed here you should not use those sites as they are almost always stealing from the game devs and steam and you risk the game not working at all and losing the money you paid for it:

Vote with your wallet. That's the language companies understand, if the game's cheaper somewhere else, spend your money there to make an impact.

That the risk with gray market, as seller can be scammer, or not.

Also region restriction keys won't work if trying to redeem it in region your account not set to, that why sellers can't jump to doing this method, but doesn't mean no one wouldn't do it.

Developers, publishers set the price on all three stores. Ask Obsidian (developer), Paradox (publisher) or even Microsoft (owner of Obsidian) why there is a price difference.
