What's the most convenient 2D (4-directional input) engine that's free?
I tried Unity but, it's really complicated for someone like me that has no experience in coding. Not even YT videos help all that much.

I'm trying to make a horror, interactive game that i have been really wanting to make.

(Sorry if this thread is classed as irrelevant.)

Maybe RPG Maker? It really depends on the level of interactivity you want. Even if you aren't trying to make an RPG I've seen horror games made in it but still.

I looked into RPG maker. It looked okay but, i seen more fantasy fighting oriented than horror.

Also, what i mean by interactive i mean choices. Like, "Follow the footprints or follow a faint voice". If chosen wrong, your character will succumb to a gruesome death.

take a look at https://www.pygame.org/ or https://godotengine.org/- i guess that would work

Also maybe check https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/List_of_game_engines and sort it by license type
and take a look at https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Category:Free_game_engines and https://github.com/collections/game-engines
Ah, Godot. I heard it's good for 2D games i'll look into it, thanks.
