restore game to default install (remove mods)
I'm new to modding. I recently decided to replay Kotor. And it was recommended that i install a bunch of resolution and ui mods to make the game play better on modern PCs. I thought i followed all the instructions to the t. But the game keeps crashing. So i tried to uninstall and reinstall the game. Verified the game cache. And most of the mod files are still in the folder. I'd manually remove the mods but i honestly don't know exactly which files they are. And no, like an idiot, i did not back up the game files before modding.

Does anyone have any advice on how to reset the game all the way back to its original installation?

If you’re unsure which files are mods files, my suggestion is - as long as none of the mods required a separate install or are save game dependent - you should just be able to uninstall the game and then wipe the directory of any remaining files. Reinstall the game, the client will do the rest.

(Note, if mod dependencies in Kotor are baked into the save, this will kill that save file as it would require those mods. They shouldn’t be though, it’s a very Bethesda game thing to do.)
