Refund to another card
I have a game that won't run for me. I want to get my money back to my bank account. However, I changed banks and now I have a completely different card and the previous one is inactive. Is it possible to change the card to which I will get a refund?

No, it could only be refunded to your Steam wallet.

You can only refund to the original bank

Otherwise people would try to scam by hijacking an account, buy a bunch of games, then refunding to a different card. You’d be absolutely screwed at that point

Sounds sus to be honest. Just refund to your steam. also bank refunds can only go to the original bank account, for obvious reasons.

What you are asking for would be exploited immediately and heavily for zero-loss money laundering. No, in your circumstance, all you can do is refund to Steam Wallet.

Refund to wallet and use that money to buy games with in the future.

Also how does one make a purchase on steam and then within 2 weeks changes banks entirely? This isn’t normal….

I've changed banks before. Luckily I didn't need any refunds during that time, but it seems plausible enough.

yeah but surely you can see where a problem can arise? If this was possible to refund. Steam would be full of scammers and people losing stuff. It already is. but it would be worse.

I wasn't saying people should be allowed to refund to a different card, just that I don't think it's unbelievable that someone would happen to switch banks shortly after buying a game.

I had an account set up for people under 18. And after my 18th birthday, the account was automatically closed and I needed to create a new one. I don't see anything strange about it lmao

I didn't think there would be so much theory about me under a simple question. Changing banks happens. I bought the game a few days before my birthday because I got money from my parents faster. After my birthday, I had to change my bank account because I turned 18. That's it.

what bank does this? Maybe your *parents* closed it when you turned 18, but i have literally never heard of a bank account where the bank 'closes it the second someone turns 18".

Like how would that even work if you had savings in it? Where does the money go? Or if you have disputed charges (like in your case want a refund) that totally doesn't work.

Now i can believe your parents or whoever set up the account for you closed it. In which case, go talk to that person about how they inconvenienced you by making it so you cannot refund.

Tho, to be honest, sounds weird to "buy something with a bank account" that you believe will be "automatically closed" in less than 14 days... because you are about to be 18?

Just refund your money to your steam account. Everything else seems just a little strange.

Just ignore all that/ People can believe what they want and you can't really do anything to change their minds. All that matters is the fact that you cannot refund to a card or account that wasn't used for the payment. You can only refund it to the original payment method or to your wallet.
