Steam cloud - out of sync (other device)
When I launch bg3 with the steam client running I get a warning that progress from another device has not been uploaded and this might cause future conflict

I haven't played on another device - what I think *might* have caused this was a brief loss of internet connection

Warning only occurs when launching with client already running, not when launching from desktop shortcut for the game, but exiting steam to launch the game without the warning any time I take a break is a workaround and not a fix

So, anyone know any fix?
I've tried deleting the appid folder from steam>userdata but as soon as the game was launched and and the sync downloaded the error was back on my next launch from the client

Try disable, and re-enable cloud for said game. Right click on game > properties > uncheck box for cloud save, then re-enable cloud save.

You could switch in, or out of Steam beta to see if it resolves the issue.

Have tried toggling off and on, both on the game and globaly
Tried it in beta just now too and still out of sync

Then best I can suggest is this.

Move save files out of their location, launch game it should redownload your save, you can check game save in-game, close game, let it sync, and see if that resolved issue, if all is well you can get rid of the moved saved since you already redownload your saves.

If still don't work the last option of trying things is redownload client files, head to where Steam installed, delete everything in folder except for Steamapp folder and steam.exe file, once done run Steam.exe.

Had already tried the first suggestion with no success

Tried the second suggestion just now, sadly also with no success

Oh well - I've opened a ticket and according to the logs the cloud registered a timeout - which makes sense with the loss of connection but doesn't explain why the cloud doesn't recognize I'm on the same device. They asked me to do some troubleshooting that did not help (which seemed pointless to begin with, seem pretty obvious that no connection = timeout)

What ever happened to deleting a games cloud data and replacing with local files? That seems the obvious solution to just nuke the cloud files but I can't find it since the redesign of the client :/

Did you try the 2nd part?

Redownloading client files? Yes, that's what I meant when I said "second suggestion"
Tried it and no luck

I had already tried moving the savefiles and have them download from the cloud anew (a couple of times actually)

The issue is that the cloud is waiting for an upload from a device but doesn't recognize that I am currently on that device. Why? I can't say, all I know is this is related to the timeout caused by the loss of connection. Maybe the files the cloud is waiting for were overwritten with newer files before it retried a sync? I'm limiting my game to a smaller pool of quick- and auto saves and kept playing without connection
Hmm, tried to run the game from the client for the first time today after none of my previous troubleshooting made it go away, and all of a sudden it's gone

Curious... wonder if the timeout that caused this and or/ the cloud status which had it waiting for an upload had a lifespan or something - can't for the life of me think what else might have made it go away

But hey, least it's gone now

It could be that, but at least have bit of an idea what the issue could be.

I've built a 2nd PC and installed ETS2, PC 1 works great with cloud sync but pc2 says cloud up to date until I launch the game and says cloud error (with all games) and if I proceed I might lose cloud data, all works fine on my 2 laptops though, it's got me stuffed.
