account contacting me on discord saying they mass reported my account. Is it a scam ?

Okay so, I have been contacted by someone I'm going to name "A" via discord claiming they had been frauded by a person pretending to use my steam account. "A", angered by the scam, then allegedly proceeded to mass report my account for this and now their account is suspended because Steam wants to conduct an investigation and Steam mods wanted to hear my side of the story.

The thing is, I have not heard a single thing from Steam directly and I have looked up possible scams on steam and found out that it could be one but I am not sure.
"A" also showed me a screenshot of their account named and it showed that their account is being forced on private because of "massively reporting a steam user".

I have had my doubts about the story for some time but I thought maybe some opinion from Steam users would help me identifying a possible scam.

It's a scam!

Any claim that you've been accidentally or falsely reported for fraud or any other infraction is a scam. Do not follow any instructions provided by anyone claiming to have accidentally reported your account.

Valve Employees will never ask you for personal or account information, on Steam or anywhere else. You can safely ignore anyone who claims to have mistakenly reported you - that will not get you banned. If you need help with your Steam account, go to https://help.steampowered.com/ .

And one more thing dont name and shame its against Steam TOS you just create problem for you self and not the scammer report and block and move on

Thank you all for your answers, I have read Steam's Scam FAQ before coming here I just thought I needed some people's thoughts on the matter as well. I also have changed the original post so the name of the scammer does not appear anymore.

Why the ♥♥♥♥ can't we N&S scammers? It's one thing to N&S cheaters, but scammers cause actual harm to people on Steam, and chat logs can be screenshotted especially if they spam malicious links on public chats

I could just create a new thread accusing YOU of scamming others and have other users ruin your life.

I'd like for the reporting system to not be a joke. What other options are there if a scammer has his reign of terror for months on end?

Let's be realistic, even if you were allowed to name and shame scammers it wouldn't really do anything in the grand scheme of things.

People will still ignore every warning, every public announcement, every FAQ, etc. and get scammed anyway just as they already do now. The common scams are easy enough to find out about and there are threads about them here every day. A lot of people who were victims or almost fell victim will make PSA threads trying to warn users, but that never changes anything. Getting to name someone won't do anything more. People just never read.

Hmm, must be a new type of scam.

Normally scammers are going to say that YOUR account is at risk. This one wants help from you for getting is his own account unbanned because of his own fault, lol.

I would stick with the original type of stories if i were them, i doubt many people are gonna spend too much time to get someone else's (who is actually your enemy by what they say they did) account unbanned.

You have probably linked your Steam account to your Discord account.

I don't recommend doing that, by the way.
