Those people contacting you are the ones trying to scam you. Report them to Discord and ignore them.

This is a scam. Report, block and move on. Steam will never contact you through discord. Search function would of given you 1000's of threads on this topic.

If you're not scamming folks, you won't get banned. Valve does not base their actions on the profile name and/or profile picture, they use things like steamID64 which can not be changed and is unique to each account. If you care to engage with the people accusing you, inform them to report the scammer account through their Steam profile page.

Are the people contacting you through Discord providing links for you to defend yourself? Fake accusations is a common avenue for scammers to use and clicking on those links can compromise your account.

Very common scam. Don't believe nonsense from total strangers.

that was the start of the scam. they want you to contact them on their alt account that they claim is a member of steam support. then you give them what they want- your inventory, your account log in, etc.

how did you try to contact steam support? the ticket system is the only way to contact steam support.

Your responses dictates whether the scam continues.

Example: How do i get out of this situation?

Answer: I can put you in touch with Steam Support agent who can solve this for you, etc, etc.

Note: Valve (Steam) is not associated with Discord.

Note: Steam Support will only contact you (if needed) but only after you have used the ticket system and they will only respond via the ticket system. There is no vocal contact.

They won't waste their time on you if you aren't receptive to the scam. They leverage the probability that someone will respond to them accordingly, so that faster they find those individuals the better the payoff will be for them.

The scam has many directions but it usually involves you having to send over your items for 'verification - to the scammers obviously and depending on any compliance, they may ask for 'fees'. It's quite an effective scam if the victim gets caught off-guard early and can lose a lot thanks to the pressure and confusion.
