Unable to move third-party game
Title says it all.
I'm trying to move the game LotRO from one drive to another, but because it's classified as a third-party game, i can neither move it or verify files when i move the installation folder itself.

I don't want to re-download the entire game from scratch, as i have 5 other games that have the exact same issue. I don't remember this being a issue previously.
And before you ask; no, THIS[i.imgur.com] button doesn't do anything, just because it's a "third-party updater".

MMOs are a unique case. In general, only their launcher is distributed via Steam. Then, the launcher installs and updates the game. Steam has no record of the files added by the launcher, and cannot properly affect the files. If you want to move an MMO, you're going to have to completely uninstall the game and reinstall it at the desired location.

Thing is, it used to work on older versions of Steam. I know for a fact that i've been able to do just this in the past, even with games with their own updater.

edit:nwm, i found a way to "fix" it.
Just copy-pasted the folder contents to a temporary folder, uninstalled the game from library, move files back to the previous folder and install the game again and it will start validating the files there and then.
It will still download the base game, but at least not all the patches associated with it.

Most thirdpart app has own verify data option , so yes you can still move steam installed manualy.

you can only validate steams minimal installation of the content rest is done by app itself,
do note i have not check this out myself , because normal you dont move content like that, and sense many have 1GB lines they DL & install things over night its simple a choise then steam has

steam Lan transfer also, it make no sense anymore to make copy of data yourself, its same as windows update , they have option even from other users not on own network.

THIS IS THE NEW WAY, MULTI PC Solutions, no need of external disk or move or copy

do note steam cloud and old save game, is still a issue ( nothing change this )
