New steam storage manager wont let me select exact folder
I can't select the exact folder in my d drive where my games are downloaded, only option I get is for the actual drives and it creates a secondary steam library folder at the directory. Please help me figure out how to select exact folders instead of just the c or d default directories

The pulldown menu has a "use a custom location" item before you get to the directory picker. I have my steam library on "D:\STEAM\". Whenever I reinstall Windows/Steam I just point an additional steam library at that directory and everything just works(after a quick verification)

I was having the same problem. I got another hard drive so I want to reinstall Steam but I wanted to use all the old game files on my other drive. My old folder setup had my SteamLibrary in a separate games folder and the new manager makes it more complicated. You may need to remove the drive a couple of times from the list until you hit the right buttons as shown in the guide... but following the guide above I managed to connect my old files eventually.
Thank you guys, that works. Doing what steam support can't

THANK YOU. It was so confusing to me and the blue 'add' button just wasn't clicking in my brain, but this did it.
In Steam-Version: 1690583737 on Linux is no library folder to select, it appears only an empty window if I'm clicking on the +Button. I cannot play my games, because my drive space is too small at my home location. I need another location to chose! Please fix this!

So far the new Steam Manager no longer even displays the Steam Library Folder option

Same problem here, cannot add new folders to steam :/
Now Steam update to Steam-Version: 1694466342 and no really changes in this case. Only a new Add-Drive-button-outfit. What a ridiculous nonsense!

I've tried everything listed above. Now I'm at the part where it displays "drive already has a steam libray folder" and won't let me do anything. I tried removing everything manually, and still get the same results. Also i get an error #contentmanagement_error

Okay, apparently I'm not allowed to decide where I want my files to be stored ON my system. But when I put my old games inside of the new "default" dirrectory nothing happens even after restarting steam and I only get option to start completely re-downloading the game.

Whoever suggested to implement this new UI "improvement" is straight up incompetent and should be fired. Now wish me luck re-downloading 500GB of game content.

You still cannot add a library to a drive that is already listed.
Now I found a solution to add easily the external drive you want!!! Look under https://github.com/ValveSoftware/steam-for-linux/issues/9666

-->... For people facing the same issue: As a workaround, I opened Steam Console via steam steam://open/console and then added a library with library_folder_add <path>.
I have the same issue too. They say that they fixed with the patch 11 sept but i don't see it fixed in my end
Steam has "forgotten" one of my drives and when I tried to add it again it gave me a message that the folder is not empty. What worked for me is creating a new folder on the same drive then selecting it from the steam client and then installing a game in the new location. Then I've cut the games from my previous fodler (common) and pasted it in the new common location (although they were on the same drive it took a minute cause there were a bunch of files) but this alone was not enough for Steam to recognize the games. I had to cut and paste all the steam files and folders from the old steamapps direcotory and paste them in the new steamapps folder replacing any existing files in there. I've also done the same with the libraryfolder.vdf and Steam.dll file from the old main library fodler and pasted them in the new main library fodler replacing the existig ones. This was all done with Steam closed and when I started it the games were listed in the library. I am not sure if you need to install one game in the new location to make this work. It might be possible to just create a new empty folder and select it from the Steam storage manager then just cut and paste all the files and folders from the old location to their respective place in the new one.

For some reason some people keep posting and reposting that outdated (and therefore nonsensical) advice about specifying the custom folder through "Downloads" category. Please, stop posting this nonsense. The whole reason people are asking these questions about the NEW manager is that old method is no longer applicable in the NEW Steam app.

This is how it is done in the NEW Steam management app under Windows:

1. Go to "Steam -> Settings" menu
2. Select "Storage" category (note: not "Downloads", but "Storage"!)
3. You will see a drop-down list with drive letters/specs/names (usually just "C:" for fresh installs). Open that drop-down list
4. Select the very last entry: "Add Drive"
5. A smaller window with another drop-down list of drives will open
6. Scroll down to the very bottom of that list to the "Let me choose another location" entry and select that entry
7. Press "Add" button
8. And that's where you will be able to specify any folder for your Steam games (including a pre-existing one)
9. If you selected a pre-existing folder with already-downloaded games, you might also have to do "Repair Library" in "Storage" category (step 2 above) to "reconnect" steam to an existing library
