Says HELP and TIPS up there at the top, mate. I'm telling folks that things are broken, therefore I need HELP getting them to fix it. Maybe a user knows what's going on and can HELP sort it out.

Thanks. I didn't even think about dropping a post in there because I usually don't bother with anything other than direct contact with support who have told me they passed all this on a long time ago, and repeatedly, and yet nothing has been fixed. I don't know why they can't at least fix the back button issues. It can't be that hard to sort it out.
Of course they could just revert to the previous version and that would fix ALL of the problems with this version...
I still hate not having fonts size as option (or zoom like any other browser) after all these years... Steam browser is just not good...
But I understand the changes are really really not that easy when dealing something that big... Any change give place to new bugs... And any correction to these bugs can produce more bugs... It's not by chances that Steam have so many updates.
P.S. I had this back button bug for like 3 or 4 days, but no issue after that. Steam did make a correction, but for some reason (no doubt the nature of the PC being not standart at all) these corrections not work for eveyone.
you sure you graps the senario here, dont you think they have tested is before relased it,
or you world have seen million of steam user inhere with the problem, no what they have here is few got a issue that slip though the test, and somehow got a issue , problem is with what.
steam has 250 to 350 millions active user every day, so then you look it like that then you might get it, look more like interference issue from other overlay or app. but other also had the issue.
feel free to try safe boot mode, because there is noone else that has hand on pc then you.
i cant say its a rule but most mistake steam catch is within 24hour after patch day, and sure beta client also is there, but same time also cause issue then you test it sometimes.
just because i dont think all mouse is a steam issue, but ask yourself this why do not all have this then.
im sure i dont need to tell you update mouse driver and usb driver controller and replug all usb units so they can auto configurated to system again.
and dont even say im on linux or mac or steamOS, that is diffrent OS, detail matter
and have windows update.
and test with other mouse ( this is not a joke ) what if you do have a mouse hardware button issue, and think its steam job to fix it.
any tech person can tell you that, mouse do not have a popup code with im old and dont work anymore. they can go go bad slowly over time, ( and look like windows system issue )
and we all have seen this over 4 decads. ppl just forget it, most dont have ball mouse anymore, most gamers have optical mouse with high DPI
most have better thern 1600 DPI
((( measures a mouse's sensitivity. )) so they higher mean system get frequent update and lag lesser )))
problem is you only use back button in this topic, i can tell you button 4-5 has always worked
not so sure its a steam issue, then 100.000 angry steam will be here. within a minute
and that not the case
and if look at steam setting for mouse there is none, and it use system mouse settings.
only thing mouse has its USB connection like controller, other then that nothing.
maybe you have other client issue like clear web cache data
but now you are over in client issue only and senseback-and-forth. Also, backward(s) and forward(s). work at mouse then client also work.
you can try steam flush cmd ( google it ) have login and pw rdy.
other then that make steam ticket, because i and other cant help you then it work on our pc. ( and we are user only here. )
Other than the standard "have you cleared caches and reinstalled Steam" there isn't much other users can do.
They won't revert the UI, obviously. Looking at my friends list and the people I talked to about it, the majority does not run into issues, just like me. Though even if it was, htat never has deterred Valve from just going their own path anyway,
The -vgui workaround got axed, I think. Not sure there are other workarounds you can try to get the old UI back. You'll have to dive into the forums for that.
Correct. Steam Support is there only for account and billing issues. Everything else they just dismiss, either by saying "we'll pass this on" or "post this in the forums, devs read there". Either is simply a polite "don't bother us with this".
A few years ago I used a workaround to revert to a previous version of my Steam client when they made a pretty bad update to the client but eventually they got around to solving some of the issues. Once they did I moved on to the "new" one. I don't know why we can't just stick with the client version that worked, or opt out of stupid updates that we didn't ask for. It's mind boggling.
