This Account has been signed in elsewhere
Disclaimer: English isn't my 1st language so sorry for the grammar mistakes
So I was playing Half-life 2 and every now and then I would get kicked out of my steam account with this message "This Account has been signed in elsewhere, Please re-enter your Password", Now just to mention I do have Family sharing with a family member and I know for a fact that they haven't logged into my account!

Since that incident i deauthorized all devices, changed my password, email, and even moved my steam guard to another phone.

I've tried to look at the recent login status from steam but it keeps showing me an error
i dont konw if this is a bug or i've been hacked.

I've done all the necessary securtiy steps like 3 times now and have even contacted steam support.

And yes I've checked for a keylogger on my Laptop but to my knowledge, i dont' see any: i've used malwarebytes, and went through all the processes in task manager, deleted temp files etc.

what am I supossed to do? im extremely worried

This is strange. As being logged in elsewhere should not cause this. At least for steam.

Are you sure its a steam message? When you see it, check taskmanager or better process explorer if there is anything running that shouldnt. While that message is shown.

To get this out of the way first, secure your steam account

Scan for malware. https://www.malwarebytes.com/

Check that the email and phone number on the steam account are still yours.

Deauthorize all devices https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Change your password on a secure device.

Generate new back up codes. https://store.steampowered.com/twofactor/manage

Revoke the api key https://steamcommunity.com/dev/apikey

The exact same has happened to me today (for the second time), the first time being 10 days ago or so. Also I do have family sharing with my sister but I'm aware she did not log today. At both occasions I did as security measure everything you mentioned (change pw, deauthorize devices, etc). Also I was able to check login history and both looked completely normal, no attempt besides those at my current location. Authorized devices looked fine, no other than my phone, steam launcher and firefox.
And at least at my case I'm aware it was a legitimate message from steam cause both times I got kicked out from the game I was playing.

This is very strange it also got me extremely worried since it's the second time it happens now I'm even more concerned...

p.s. My system has no infestations, I keep antivirus on 100% of the time, do not access sketchy sites, run adwcleaner afterwards and even manually searched for processes using Process Monitor

This has also happened to me twice today while playing a game. Just sitting in launcher doesn't seem to affect anything but when a game is running I have seen the little pop-up in the bottom corner from steam saying "This account has been signed in elsewhere. Please re-enter your password." When this pop-up appears, I get a window appear in the middle of my screen which I assume is supposed to ask me to re-enter my password but just stays loading. I can continue my game as I can open then close the Steam overlay to hide the window. Once I click to close the window it closes steam and whatever game I was playing

NGL, since I made my last post here about this it hasn't happened to me again. Maybe just a slightl Auth bug but was solved on the day?

It may be related to internet instability. Today I had a quick disconnect while gaming and when it came back online I had some trouble reconnecting. Then I got this weird message and had to manually close/open Steam again. However, I'm unable to say if this is the only factor that could trigger it or if it may also be related to any other bug/vulnerability the current version of Steam has...

Maybe, but no clue tbh. My internet is fairly solid and had no other issues connecting through any other application, even steam was still online and was just being weird. The only devices I had logged into my account at my PC and my phone, and that matched with that I had on my authorised devices list. Probably just a blip in the system though as, like I said, it's not happened since

Can confirm bug still happening
Theta1996 Sep 29, 2023 @ 7:24am
So I've deduced that, at least for me it's a problem with between Steam and SurfShark VPN. I can run on steam all day no problems without activating my VPN. At some point (no guarantee to how long it'll be stable) the connection for steam just goes to s**t, but only for Steam, everything else still has full network access

I've been having the same problem for months already. Did anyone find a solution?
I use Nordvpn but it's never open when I'm on Steam and my connection it's fine.
