does Steam keep your saves on cloud when you build a new PC?
I remember when I build my current PC and reinstalled my games, some games' saves were gone and I lost all my progress. I'm pretty sure these games supported cloud saving as well.

So now I'm manually backing up all the saves, but what's annoying is that not all Steam saves are located in the same places. Some are within the steam userdata folder, some are in my documents, some are in my games, some are in appdata folders so chances are I will miss some.

I just want to know conclusively whether Steam cloud save is reliable when moving over to a new PC.

Yes, it is, assuming a couple basics:
1. Steam cloud must not be disabled in Steam settings
2. Steam cloud must not be disabled in that game's properties in Steam
3. You gotta give Steam the time to upload the saves. I remember reading about similar problems from a dude & found out during the discussion that this dude was shutting down their laptop pretty much the moment the game closed, meaning Steam had no time to upload the saves.

Just like reboot said as long you didn't disable cloud save, and allow it to upload to cloud when you ever you exit out of a game you should be all good.

Please not some old games didn't get cloud support, so if got old games you may need to use game save manager that callahsn420 provided the link.

Anyways if got any more questions feel free to ask, and someone should reply as that what community does help each other.

It's easy enough to check whether they have cloud saves or not on the games library page. If they have them there's a big icon and text next to the play button showing the status. If it doesn't have them there's no icon and text.

Truly. For peace of mind follow this advice. GaveSave Manager is free and it will backup and restore all of them.
