Launching steam at startup with legacy GUI [Old Steam GUI]
Hate the new GUI? Me too.

Here's how you can have steam launch into legacy GUI on start-up!

As shown in this guide, you can use -vgui to set a steam launcher shortcut to launch into legacy UI. This is great if you don't launch steam at start-up but if, like me, steam boots up when you boot up your PC, then you'll need to make some additional changes.

Don't worry, it's simple!

1. Press WIN+R, this opens up the run window.
2. In the run window, type "regedit"
3. Go to "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Run"
4. Double click to edit the steam registry key
5. After everything that's already there, add "-vgui" at the end

That's it! Steam should now launch in legacy GUI on startup!

This unfortunately no longer works as Valve disabled "-vgui" as a launch option. There are still ways to bypass this though, however it involves remaining on a specific Steam client version and disabling client updates.
