I have an "Account alert" red notification, clicking it does nothing?

I've never gotten one of these before, it's right next to my notifications and news button at the top of the new overlay. It says "You have an account alert" and clicking it does absolutely nothing. I received no emails pertaining to it, and can't find anything about it on my steam account details page.

Only thing I can think of that would get me an "account alert" was me making fun of the Only Up dev for pushing a stupid crypto scheme in his game? That's literally it though, I don't trade items, I don't scam, I just.. play games?? I'm really confused about this, is there a way I can view what my alert is even about?

Red account alert mostly means just a warning but it is mostly implied by valve employee or automated because an account disregard TOS and involved to scamming, trolling in community, harrasing other user's or cheating. If you will have a VAC or game ban it would probably send you a red alert before putting red text on your profile permanently. But if you know you don't do anything you are good and nothing to worry about.

I don't know if that's enough to warrant me getting community banned or anything? Or if the warning is for something else? I'm inactive on most community stuff and that's the only thing I did recently in the past few days that I can think of that'd get me this warning

You aren't banned in the game hub though.

It's not present on browser Steam, and I restarted my Steam client just now and its still there.

And yeah, I'm not banned from the game hub, so idk if its even that. Now I'm even more concerned that I got hacked or something lol

Just woke up to this today, not in browser and only shows in steam desktop. Cannot figure out what I did or how to even acknowledge it.

In browser go to support tab then it shows. Mine was my eso sub wasn't able to process the payment..... Scared the hell outta me :D

For me it appeared because I refunded a game key on Humble Bundle that I had already redeemed. So they revoked my game license and gave me a red warning for it. It seems like the red warning can appear for very dramatic or undramatic reasons, lol

It is supposed to be a Yellow alert for that type of thing but Valve in their infinite wisdom changed that with the new UI too.

Geez, I just woke up to this and couldn't click in Steam itself. Had to go into the browser to find out the Robocop beta ended and they revoked the key. Scared me, damn Steam.

I'm all for new and fresh UI, but damn it feels like whenever Steam does anything to it everything just breaks. And that's not even talking about the pisspoor state that Steam Mobile's in.

Could be a denied payment. Maybe your new card has different numbers.

I just got one of these right now and for my case, at least it was related to not paying my CSGO 360 subscription. Just make sure your payment options are up-to-date and pay your subscription and if you do not wish to continue with any payment for a subscription then just unsubscribe.
