Steam Cloud Error?

I'm having issues with Steam connecting to my network. I've restarted Steam and my computer already. I haven't tried anything else yet, because I don't want to accidentally mess something up. Me and other players on a game called The Isle are also having issues with this. It makes the game unplayable.
Anyone else have solutions, or having this issue?

EDIT: The issue seems to have either been fixed, or i fixed it for myself by signing out and then back in.

Steam had a bad case of server crash the last 30 minutes. Maybe a hacking attack, maybe the weekly maintainance was moved two days ahead because of the sales event on thursday.
Anyhow, should be starting to work again more or less.

I fixed this just now by deleting everything in my /steam/ folder EXCEPT:

Steam.exe
Userdata
Steamapps

This will force an update of the steam client when you relaunch steam.exe

It was a global server issue. If anything is still not working, a simple client restart is enough. No need to reinstall.

I may try this -- does it delete any progress on any games? (Based on the fact you don't delete Userdata I wouldn't think so, but still) Or anything else generally important?

If games save files locally, they usually do so under your user profile or documents. Some settings, custom skins or local screenshots may reset though.
Still, as I said, it is not really necessary in this case. The issue has been fixed. If there is still trouble on your end, just close and reopen Steam.
